Pacquiao, Mayweather, Berto....It's a Crazy Time for Boxing

2010 has started out with quite a bang. Steroid allegations, defamation lawsuits, Fighters pulling out of the Super Six 168 lb. Tourney, even Antonio Margarito fighting in Texas. It really is wild. This post will not be in too much depth about the upcoming fights just a heads up for this far in 2010.

First things first, Berto pulled out of his fight for a very valid reason and everyone understands. I believe he would have lost to Shane Mosley but that point is mute. He this was a bad time for him to fight and nobody would disagree. Voices are saying that this will line up between Floyd Mayweather and Shane Mosely. I was one of the few who was not excited about Pacquiao vs Mayweather but I am excited for this fight to happen. I feel Mayweather would have fought a typical Mayweather style fight and won against Pacquiao. Shane Moseley has the ability to force Mayweahter out of his shell and could pull out an upset victory. Rumors are for Floyd to fight on March 3rd with a split fight with Pacquiao.

Pacquiao is lining up to fight Joshua Clottey on March 3rd in Cowboy Stadium. This has bad written all over it. Clottey looked impressive against Miguel Cotto but is not in the same league as Pacquiao. Pacquiao will dominate. The other mistake is to have it at a stadium with over 100K seats. Even if they do sell out that stadium, which I believe they won't, it will be a bad fight environment and the fans will be disappointed. Also to headline that night Antonio Margarito is set to return after his defeat by the hands of Shane Mosely. Margarito is set to fight Carson Jones. Exactly, Jones is a nobody who will get beat by Margarito who should not be fighting at all.

A little closer to home, Jermaine Taylor pulled out of the Super Six tournament leaving Andre Ward without an opponent for April. Froch is still set to fight Kessler and Abraham to fight Dirrell. We just have to wait and see how the now five man tourney plays out.

Bernard Hopkins is set to fight Roy Jones Jr. and who cares. Hopkins has not fought anyone of merit since Pavlik and Jones needs to retire. There is NOTHING more to say about this fight.

Edwin Valero finally is back on TV with a fight in February against Antonio De Marco, Valero should clean up.

Lastly the fight of the year, Israel Vazquez- Rafael Marquez IV. I am extremely excited about this fight. I encourage anyone and everyone to see the first three fights. the best trilogy I have ever seen. They were very close and went both ways and Vazquez has not fought since March, 2008. Marquez only had one fight. This will be an amazing fight and if it's like the others, then prepare for magic.

Stay tuned for more updates closer to the fights. And of course, Thanks for reading.
